Talking on the development side, Visual Web Developer 2005 has made life easy for almost everyone.
A little information on Visual Web Developer 2005 from Wikipedia:
The Visual Web Developer is a free web development tool that allows anyone to evaluate the web development and editing capabilities of the other Visual Studio 2005 editions at no charge. Its main function is to create ASP.NET websites.
It has a WYSIWYG, drag-and-drop user interface designer; enhanced HTML & code editors; a (limited) database explorer; support for other web technologies (e.g., CSS, Javascript, XML); and integrated, design-time validation for standards including XHTML 1.0/1.1 and CSS 2.1. VWD stands to be one of the best free tools for web developers and designers.
Being an Express IDE, it lacks certain features, such as the Accessibility Checker, the ability to create standalone Class Library Projects (which can be done by the other language-specific Express Editions), and the extensibility support necessary to load third-party add-ins and macros. – Wikipedia.com
Speaking from personal experience, I recently did a course on Web Technologies in my University, we were working on Visual Web Developer 2003. Now believe you me working on that version was torture. You had to everything manually, plus you can’t run Visual Web Developer 2003 right out of the box. I mean for VWD 2003 to run it requires that you have IIS previously installed meaning you needed Windows XP professional, sure you could install IIS server on Windows XP Home but that’s a different story. Our professor wanted us to use Visual Web Developer 2005 but due to the usual University red tape we had to stick to VWD 2003. I repeat here it was literally like being tortured while working with VWD 2003. I’m not saying here that it was no good or something like that but that the guys at Microsoft have done a really good job with the latest version and I’m looking forward for the next version.
A couple of advantages of the new version over the previous one:
• Complete Intellisense support. The previous version used to have trouble with providing intellisense on some occasions.
• Complete drag and drop support and functionality for controls. With the new version creating a membership website is just a few clicks away, LITERALLY!
• Linking databases to pages also takes just a few clicks.
• The prerequisite for IIS to be installed on a system to be used by Visual Web Developer has been removed and now VWD 2005 is equipped with a built in server.
One issue with this version that my friends and I have experienced is that when you try to run the website it takes a lot of time for the built-in server to load it. I’m not exactly sure why that happens but considering the overall benefits and advantages of the newer version I guess we can side line this issue, but I hope that the people at Microsoft fix this for the newer release.

Welcome!
Welcome to my latest blog. I’m rather new to the whole blogging experience so please excuse me for any mistake that I make.
Why I created this blog? Well recently I took a course of Web Technologies at my University, while working on Visual Web Developer 2005 I felt the need to start working on my own as I wasn’t satisfied with the pace my professor was working at. I saw that apart from a few sources there wasn’t much help in the form of tutorials available over the internet, and those which were available were a bit advanced for a beginner like me at that time. So I decided to start making tutorials, simple and easy ones, for the new developers or for those new to visual web developer 2005.
A little about me, my name is Imad and I’m currently doing my Bachelors in Computer Sciences from Dubai, UAE.
I don’t think I’ll be able to post a list of all the tutorials that I would be composing because to tell you the truth I haven’t decided that myself yet, but be sure ask to the fact that they’ll start from the absolute beginning.
